Steinhatchee is an unincorporated settlement on the Gulf coast near the mouth of the Steinhatchee River. The village was settled in the early 1800's and the residents have always been mostly interested in fishing, scalloping, crabbing and timber (although the timber tends to be inland a bit from all the swamp and tidal marshes).
