Williston is located in the heart of an extensive underground spring complex in eastern Levy County. Scuba divers flock to the area to enter the Blue Grotto and Devil's Den entrances to the flooded limestone caverns.

This is also an area of extensive horse ranches, one of the local ranches having produced "Foolish Pleasure," winner of the 1975 Kentucky Derby.
